Stories matter. They are the timeless echoes of our shared values and understanding of the world, reflecting who we are while offering a vision of how we might aspire to be something more. Stories are the inheritance we leave to posterity — when we are gone, they are what remain. 

Every story is a journey, told through the experiences of a heroic figure who ventures forth from the ordinary world into the great unknown. In undertaking this adventure, he encounters trials, overcomes adversity, and is transformed through his experiences, returning from the world beyond having discovered a meaningful truth about himself. As Joseph Campbell famously put it in his classic, The Hero with a Thousand Faces:

“The heroes of all time have gone before us. The labyrinth is thoroughly known … we have only to follow the thread of the hero path. And where we had thought to find an abomination we shall find a God. And where we had thought to slay another we shall slay ourselves. Where we had thought to travel outwards we shall come to the center of our own existence. And where we had thought to be alone we shall be with all the world.”

Set in an alternate future where ancient empires like Rome and Carthage survived to see humanity take to the stars, PINNACLE is the story of one young man’s journey along the hero’s path, and the ensuing events that will change the course of human history. Along the way he is guided to self-discovery with the help of mentors and friends, challenged by enemies and obstacles both great and small, and confronted with choices that reshape the galactic political landscape.
